  • Amazon’s logistics starts with a hefty multi-billion dollar subsidy from the US Government. Yeah Prime Day is nice and all, but when you consider the debt our country went in just so Bezos could pollute the environment in unprecedented ways is pretty disgusting.

  • Where are you getting your journalism reporting information from? You didn't mention the federal government laws against single business monopoly laws. It was rumored that Bill Gates gave Steve Jobs cash money and a joint business project to keep Apple Computer from closing. There by saving Microsoft Computer from being sued and broken up for antitrust and monopoly laws. Every major corporation and CEO is aware of this. How is it possible for you to be unaware of this actual common business law?

  • UPS and FedEx both have delivery commit times on air pkg. When lasted checked UPS air pkg delivery times were 8:30am/10:30am and 3:00pm. No matter what size weight or value of the pkg or shipping is free. Which makes a big difference in the operation and cost of delivery service. (Apples and Oranges, their both consider fruits except they each taste different and are used in different ways.) Delivery time commitments for pkgs requires a lot more air flight time, drive time and physical labor. UPS drivers also are required to cover all on call residential pick up request for nextday air and ground pkgs. All in the same work day by the same delivery driver.

  • Well done video but I hope someone at Amazon is anticipating the demand for each item and PRE-POSITIONING the inventory (supply) as close to the customer (demand) as possible to optimize delivery time and costs. A fleet of large cargo jets, huge warehouses and robots should be a last resort. Smarter is better than harder in the long run. In the 1980's the worlds 3rd largest computer manufacturer had hundreds of manufacturing and distribution facilities worldwide. I invented systems achieved near real time planning, design, manufacturing and distribution BEFORE the internet or large cargo jet existed. In 1991 US patent 5369570 and cited by hundreds of others.

I thought delivery was done. Nope. For some reason I watch as the package moved farther away until finally the app apologized and said it'll be delivered tomorrow. HUH???

  • Couple things: it's pronounced "Keeva", and not all Amazon warehouses have them. Older Amazon warehouses without kiva robots can increase throughput pretty easily just by throwing additional people into the mix. Locations with kiva however hit a maximum throughput much sooner when adding people.

  • It would be interesting to see how amazon is planning to adapt its shipping system to the german market. Germany is a much smaller country than the US, and here, they're selling prime memberships with the promise of free 1-day delivery. Come to think of it, they can probably take planes out of the equation altogether, because pretty much every town in germany is within an 8-hour drive from any logistics centre...

  • I like to order stuff a day or two apart so they have to ship separately, they sometimes catch it if you order something within anywhere from a few hours to a day apart depending on the day. And always check the rush delivery, not that I need most things quick but I'd rather make them pay more for it. The $1 reward isn't worth it for me. Don't worry, I recycle the boxes or I use some when I sell stuff. But i usually try to buy stuff from other sites, I just haven't had great experiences with Amazon especially stuff that more than about a hundred bucks.

  • I would've liked to see the logistics behind PrimeNow delivery. I would also be interested in how the fulfillment works in India because Amazon India logistics is way ahead of Europe and one-day deliveries are quite common (therefore the point about Amazon beating out FedEx and DHL due to two-day doesn't hold)
