With the return of The Mandalorian season 2 to Disney+, I felt it was about time to also return to a Star Wars theory. In a previous theory, I talked about how the Jedi could be construed as an 'evil' order. Today, I'm taking that kind of idea and flipping it to talk about the Empire itself! I think The Mandalorian provides us with even more clues that the Empire may not be as wrong in it's philosophy as we thought! How? Why? Well Theorists, make sure you Baby Yoda is somewhere safe because this is about to take a turn to the dark side...

  • Legit just finished watching the clone wars animated series, there were too many moments when the jedi order refused help or salvation to the neutral or dying worlds, because coruscant was more important to them, ironically enough with everyone but the nobility and the jedi living in near poverty. From what happens in the first scenes of SOLO, we easily see that the empire ain't too bad as a functioning government. Yeah they had their moments, but the republic wasn't even close to the level of development that the Empire had.

Admittedly, if you live in the outlying system you are screwed under either government. Just saying with the deals the empire made with the Hut clan on several occasions the outlying system wasn't really much better off.

  • So... uh... are we just going to ignore the entirety of Star Wars Rebels? In this show alone, the Empire - Burned a mining planet for resources - Enslaved it's inhabitants into the workforce - Enslaved the Wookies - Add puppet leaders to betray their own people - Kidnap children - Restrict output/press - Torture captives - Use a Jedi Master's CORPSE as a way to lure the enemy - Takes Hostages - Bombs an innocent city - Indoctrination of minors The entire show is about showing that the empire is evil, and not redeemable in any way (aside from being efficient) The empire is only good in the same sense that Germany was "good" in WWII which everyone knows is not the case. The Imperial troops are called "Stormtroopers."

  • HEY MATPAT! So I have an idea for your fourth channel (to complete the little circle thing in all of your channel logos, food theory being the third one). It could be Life Theory, involving things in the real world. Things like “why do people enjoy __ so much?” You could get I to more science and math stuff, because both science and math are part of real life. Personally, if you did make this, I would love for you to explain why schools teach us stuff we might not even need in the real world. I think that’s a question we all want the answer to. Well, I doubt you’ll actually be reading this comment, but I’m gonna do my best to get it in your sight.

  • In legends, the empire was built to face the inevitable yuuzhan vong invasion, palpatine discovered the Outlanders plan for invasion of the galactic republic and decided the old republic was too weak to fight off an invasion of that size, he was right, the new republic nearly lost that war it took a pact with the emperial remnant to stop the invasion. So yeah palpatine was right, but that was the old canon

  • 1:10 all classic symptoms of teenagers. I mean seriously, you're comparing a what 10 year old to someone whos like 15-17? also anakin is the way he is because he was constantly called the chosen one, and how he was going to bring balance to the force. yet from his perspective, not being a jedi master was the council looking down on him. and in an ironic sense, his actions only proved that he was an immature teen who wasn't ready to become a master.

If you live on an imperial planet, you are practically forced to join the military, only to be choked by your master or have some laser-sword wielding maniac cut you up by the dozens, watching your friends get killed with the enemy not showing the slightest regret and even downright enjoying it.

Yes after a war things are a mess and you have everyone fighting to be in charge only way to make it work is the people on the planet taking care of themselves. Because the republic only wanted faithful followers though force and force leads to lazy people not willing to put in work. Know they have to work and volunteer to help protect themselves. Your argument is that the government should have all the power and make all the decisions. It should be up to the people and the people need to make decisions to help themselves. The truth is we are the best at helping ourselves and working together and when you only expect the government to protect you become selfish and stop thinking of helping. Your argument is the government should do it and let’s be honest no government is going to be as good as your neighbor or loved ones they give a crap

How about the growing racism against non-human? Also, Vader never really had any loyalty to the empire. He planned to overthrow the emperor and achieve the original intent of the jedi, to bring peace, freedom, justice, and security to the people. Emperor Sidious only wanted power to himself. We see the Empire’s conscription tactics. And we see that they rule primarily through fear and manipulation. The only people that are in the Empire are either too afraid to leave or have been obviously brainwashed. And this book followed two Imperials, one of whom even defected to the Rebels!
